Retirement of School Principal, Mr Maurice Keohane.

31 August, 2020

The school has announced the retirement of Principal, Mr Maurice Keohane. Maurice joined Midleton C.B.S. in January 2017, having moved from his position as Principal in Charleville C.B.S. In his time at Midleton, Maurice oversaw the expansion of student numbers from 695 to 880 today. Maurice also oversaw the introduction of a school apprenticeship programme that is now being piloted by the Department of Education, the development of the school’s ASD Suite and the introduction of the online learning platform, Google Classroom. The school also achieved academic success under his tenure with the school being listed in the top 25 boys’ schools in the country in 2019.   There was also huge sporting success. During the incredible 2018/19 season the school won 17 trophies including the Harty Cup, Munster Senior Soccer, Munster Senior Athletics and All – Ireland Orienteering trophies. Maurice’s final job was to assist in the preparation of the school for reopening following the Covid19 restrictions.

The school would like to thank Maurice for his incredible work and service to Midleton C.B.S. We would all also like to wish Maurice and his wife Mary the very best into the future.
Mr Niall Ahern has moved from his position as Deputy Principal to Principal and Ms Tracey Groome has been appointed as a Deputy Principal.
