National Flag Raising Ceremony

In association with the Thomas Francis Meagher Foundation, Midleton CBS took part in the 2021 Irish Flag Day to promote pride and respect for the Irish Flag and its symbolism of peace and unity between all the people of our Island. In union with the Foundation our school flag was presented to Midleton CBS by Michael D. Higgins President of Ireland at a ceremony in Waterford in 2016.
In a modern and diverse Ireland our school is at the forefront in embracing people of all backgrounds, ethnicities and creeds as we gather around the Irish Flag in a spirit of peace, respect, diversity and inclusion.
Our Flag Ceremony on the eve of our national holiday is a celebration of active citizenship and inclusion in Midleton CBS. Through it we recognise the flags and nationalities of everyone within our school community. The raising of the flag of the Irish People during this Covid-19 global pandemic is particularly poignant as it symbolises our school coming together to create a community of hope for Ireland's future.
The socially distanced gathering included the Principal, Deputy Principals, members of the Student Council, teaching staff, SNAs and a selection of students.
