Cooperating Teacher Reflective Development Award

The Cooperating Teacher Reflective Development Award is designed to enhance and develop the key role of the cooperating teacher (CT) in initial teacher education. The role of the CT is voluntary but is key for the School of Education in ensuring a successful placement and deep professional learning of the student teacher. The role of the CT involves a level of mentoring as the student initially observes and co-teaches with the CT. Ongoing professional support, curricular and lesson planning, and the provision of advice, context and direction in relation to individual students or class groups complement this support. This work significantly enhances the professional learning and development of the student teacher as they grow in their school placement within Midleton CBS.
