Double All-Ireland Champions

03 June, 2013

A big word of congratulations to Daniel Colbert and Fergal Curtin who won gold medals at the All-Ireland Schools Track & Field Championship finals held in Tullamore on Sat 1st June - traditionally the day after the Summer holidays. Also, a big well-done to the Junior 4X100m Relay team who secured bronze and to Sean Broderick who competed in the Junior 80m hurdles.

For Fergal, it was the perfect end to a perfect double on the Athletics field over the past school year, in that he added his 1500m Junior Boys Gold to his Cross Country Gold secured earlier in the year.

For Daniel, who begins his Leaving Cert in a few days time it was a case of 2nd time lucky, as he finished just outside the medals in the 110m hurles before A-Cing the 400m hurdles later.

This return of medals is a tribute to the boys who pace the fields on their own most evenings. Their committment and discipline is a tribute to their club coaches, their parents and themselves in their pursuit of excellence.

From a CBS point of view, we thank Liamo for his continuing involvement in our school's Athletics and Orienteering pursuits, despite his retirement some years ago.
