Tutorial Class

The Role of the Tutor at Midleton CBS

At Midleton CBS, the Tutor plays a pivotal pastoral role at the heart of each class group. Tutors meet their students every day for a short 15 minute tutorial period. This daily check-in builds strong relationships and ensures that every student is known, supported, and encouraged.

Tutors are the first point of contact and advocates for students. They oversee day-to-day matters—such as attendance, behaviour, and uniform—and provide practical academic support, guiding students in organisation, study routines, and goal-setting. They also promote wellbeing and pastoral care, connecting students with additional supports when needed and partnering closely with families and the wider school team.

This role reflects our commitment to creating a caring school community, to partnership and transformational leadership, and to excellence in teaching and learning. Grounded in our gospel-based values, the Tutor models care, respect, and high expectations, helping each student to grow as a learner and as a person.
