Mr. Gerard Cott RIP

03 July, 2023

We are saddened to hear of the passing of our friend and former colleague Mr. Gerard Cott.
Ger joined us in 1975 having taught in Coláiste Chríost Rí the previous year. During his time as a teacher in the school he taught Physics and Maths. When not in the classroom, Ger, along with Denis Ring trained hurling teams bringing the senior team to the Corn Phadraig final in 1978. Ger became Vice-Principal in 1982/83, giving 20 years sterling service in that role. We are sure that a great number of students, parents and fellow teachers regard him as one of the most formative educational influences in their lives.
Prior to teaching in Midleton CBS Ger taught in Nigeria for three years and served as a TD for the Cork North-East constituency from 1969 to 1973.
After his retirement, Ger stayed active in the Midleton CBS community, serving on the Board of Management from 2010 to 2016. He also held various positions in the Past Pupils Union including President in 2008 & 2009.
We extend our condolences to his wife Denise; Children Susan, Ashley, Dearbhla, Brian, Ger and his extended family and friends.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam uasal.
