Ballincollig CS (1-8) vs Midleton CBS (0-13)

C.I.T. Grounds, 12:30PM

In the final at C.I.T Midelton CBS and Ballincollig CS put on an entertaining game in very difficult conditions with a very strong wind that aided the CBS lads in the first half, and with the wind they got about Ballincollig and where striking points over from all angles in the first 15 mins from Stephen Murphy, Cian Greene and a wonderful point from Stephen Mc Carthy on his weaker foot, while under severe pressure. Cbs had a few goal chances that they should off taken, which would have been justified with the strength of the wind and the dominance of the Midleton team, Stephen Murphy scored three frees in the first half. At half-time CBS led by 9 - 3, which wasn't enough with the wind and fair play to Ballincollig they scored a well worked goal within the first couple of the minutes of the second half. The pressure was immense from the powerful Ballincollig team and the Midleton lads again had to show their character which was tested to it's max, but they would always come back with response to the Ballincollig points and in the end CBS where the deserved Champions, they where a little wasteful, but in a final it was all about winning and not how they looked! The defence was very strong and resilient in the face of some stern pressure, Andrew Murphy was solid again in full-back and Jordan Sherlock was marking their most dangerous forward and was persistently up to the test, he showed great character. Aaron Stafford was constantly an out ball for the defence when the pressure was intense, He never stopped giving an option. Steven Mc Carthy was very impressive in the second half when CBS needed to win possession he provided good ball and was never wasteful with his distribution. Cian Greene was a constant thorn in the side of the opposition with his strong running with the ball and Stephen Murphy was clinical with his free taking. In all it was a very strong performance from all the CBS players, who were a credit to themselves, their mentors and school. Congratulations Peile B Champions!!!
