Thursday 19 Apr 2012 Cork Colleges Fé-16 'B' - Semi-Final

Mount St. Michael Rosscarbery (2-7) vs Midleton CBS (1-17)

Brinny, 13:30PM

In a very entertaining contest, both sides served up a compelling game of football. Which ebbed and flowed from the first minute to the last minute of extra-time.

Rosscarbery where a very organised team with quality doen the spine of the team, but to be fair Midleton had the measure of their west cork opponents, but they never really enforced until the extra-time. Against a very strong wind in the first half CBS and the most memorable score came from the captain Cain Haines who against the wind, of his weaker foot and from an awkward angle struck a magnificent point!! Both teams notched scores in the first half, with CBS leading 6-4. In the second half the game was a little scrappy with CBS taking their foot of the gas and allowing the St. Michael's Lads back into the contest and unfortunately we saw the opposite side of Cain Haines when he received a straight Red card for verbals towards the Referee?

With the 14 men now against it the Ross lads really put the squeeze on and scored two lopping goals that left CBS with a 2 point deficite with less than five minutes left, the character of the CBS was tested and they answered with confident scores from Stephen Murphy and Aaron Stafford which equalised the game and brought it into extra-time.

CBS were allowed to bring their numbers back to the 15 and Darren O'Driscoll was brought into the game following a wrist injury in normal time and he made an imminent impact with a screamer of a goal!! Rosscarbery where out on there feet and CBS drove home there advantage with four more scores in extra-time to no score and the physical strength of the East Cork lads shown through and they booked their place in the Final at C.I.T against Ballincollig!!

In the Defence Shane Dorney was commanding when he was moved into centre-half back and Andrew Murphy was very strong in driving CBS forward, Again Jake O'Donaghue was impressive in his all-round play. Cain Greene and Stephen Murphy where a constant threat in the CBS forward line, with Aaron Stafford very productive. Aghada lads very impressive overall!
