May 2012 - End of Year Galleries
The final month of the school year is usually very busy, not just for the Exam classes who are putting the finishing touches to projects, but for the full school population. It provides for an oppurtunity to acknowledge the achievements "outside of the classroom" in the sporting and activity scene. Many fine achievements have already been referred to earlier in the year with major success in gaelic games and athletics - it's now time for all the other activities.
The sub gallerys for this gallery looks back on some different sporting groups and also activities which some of transition year pupils took part in.
In Orienteering, Leslie Coughlan finished 2nd overall on his way to leading the Senior Schoolboys team to All-Ireland honours. The other mambers of the team being Eoin Casey, James Griffin and Darragh Lane. Well done as always to the efforts of the retired Liam O'Brien, who continues to promote the sport in the school.
In Hurling, 2 development groups from 1st Yr (outside the Rice Cup panel), took part in 1- day Blitz run by Coiste Oiliuna Corcai. On the day, both teams went on to meet each other in the final of the competition.
