Midleton CBS Shave or Dye 2015

This year a Shave or Dye event was organised in Midleton CBS by a group of four Transition Year students- Fergal Smiddy, Cathal Martin, Troy Twomey Walsh & Killian Treacy with their teacher Rebecca Quirke. This event was organised to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society, a charity close to many people’s hearts. Preparations went underway at the beginning of March, in order to have the event organised for Daffodil Day on the 27th of March. The hair dying took place on the 26th of March in the school. A total of 18 students decided to participated dying their hair various shades of blue, purple & pink – it was a very colourful evening! The following day, three members of staff from The Turkish Barber Rooms in Midleton arrived to the school to shave the heads of eight brave CBS students- Kalem Deady, Cein O’Driscoll, Emmanuel-A-Iomide-OLadejobi, Fergal Smiddy, Dara Murphy, Stephen Roe, Suiliman Abdullah and Cillian O’Brien. This Shave or Dye project was a terrific success. The TY students ended up raising a total of €2,165 for the Irish Cancer Society. We are very proud of all students who participated in this event and all who sponsored them. A special thanks to the staff of The Turkish Barbers who gave up their time to come to the school and help with the event. We hope that the funds will help with the fantastic work that the Irish Cancer Society does for so many people.
